Dan McCoy & the Standing 8’s
Alt. Country / Country / Bluegrass

After years of playing in bands Willoughby, Ohio native Dan McCoy has stepped out on his own in 2008. While his main band Rambler 454 is on hiatus McCoy has been working on a second solo album due for release in the later half of the year. The album features Russell Fleckenstein (The Turnpikes) on drums with McCoy playing the rest of the albums instruments (save for the occasional guest spot). Clint Holley (Hayshaker Jones) is the man turning the knobs & giving constructive criticism (Read: He's the engineer & co-producer). McCoy wrote 8 of the albums 11 tracks with 2 songs being cover tunes & 1 written by friend & part-time co-conspirator Greg Markell. It's being dubbed as "Rambler-lite" in reference to Rambler 454 but that may be an understatement. The energy & sincerity is just as strong as anything Rambler (or McCoy's previous band Block) has put out but the focus on lyrics & storytelling has been taken up a notch. Says McCoy, "I'm being completely self-indulgent on this record & it's coming out exactly as I've been hearing it in my head. This may end up being my last record so I want to make sure it comes out good & it's done the way I want it done. So far, so good."
